A 'nom de plume' for one of our talented wordsmiths...

As the leading eCommerce platform in the open-source sector, Magento has come a long way from its initial 2007 launch to today’s version 2.0. Where the brand’s original business value was largely seen as a robust PHP engine that simply allowed customer integration of business/transaction-centric enhancements; today the 2.0 variant represents a full-fledged ecommerce platform that is ready to go to work on day one.

The team at Balance Internet have been working on Magento deployments since 2008 and put simply we love Magento 2.0. We are delighted to be able to offer it to our existing and new clients in Australia.

The upgraded enterprise platform offers an expanded, and highly-modularised code base which delivers reduced time-to-market cycles, enhanced customisation, and greater flexibility overall. On top of these advantages, the new version also offers a host of new APIs that help speed the third-party integration process, and makes scaling a lot less daunting.

Since the new platform’s entire rationale is driven by the efficient processing of “ecommerce”, it makes sense to consider the newly-evolved Magento in terms of deeper business capability in the backend. Consequently, the previous merchant “themes” capability has been beefed up considerably, including an expanded Admin capability that looks a lot like a consumer UI, rather than a back office iteration.

The new UI, alone, will make any business manager feel right at home, and the UI is amply supported by robust tools and improved product import set-ups that allow a user to engage opportunities up to four times faster than before. What was great – is now even greater.

Each of these back-end enhancements lean toward the ultimate goal of seamless and highly-enhanced customer engagements; anywhere, anytime. Conversion has been a key focus in it’s evolution. From an ROI perspective, Magento 2.0 does a particularly good job of offering various technical elements that deliver more immersive and innovative sales capabilities to the retail teams that use it every day.

For example, in the new Magento it is easy to integrate video as a sales tool. The system’s newly evolved UI and UX allows users to quickly develop, integrate and launch active sales imagery that converts sales.

An ability to actively trap and track customer engagements in real-time is often seen to be the “future of ecommerce” success. Magento 2.0 is already well-ahead of the curve with its active “track/trap” capabilities that are already intrinsic to its new code base.

All in all, Magento 2.0 has to clearly be one of the most comprehensive and useful open-source ecommerce platforms available; and well worth taking a look at for any business eCommerce requirement.
