In his latest Blog, Trends from 2013 and predictions for 2014, Head of Marketing Magento, Craig Peasley, acknowledges the continual growth of ecommerce across the world. Peasley states, That’s explosive growth on a global scale, made possible by increasingly connected consumers and devices, and also by nimble merchants acting to capitalize on trends and emerging opportunities.

In 2014, he believes consumers will need to overcome the omni channel challenge, and focus on analytic systems that make it possible to get a single, integrated view of their customers across multiple channels. He recognises that mobile commerce will continue to grow and will evolve beyond mobile apps and responsive sites, posing the questions that in the December 2014 will consumers continue on the same trend as December 2013, browsing on mobile devices but conducting transactions on computers?

Peasley places emphasis on the concept of sale events and holidays, stating that Black Friday-related promotions drove sales in the UK, Latin America and Canada. In Australia, we saw Click Frenzy take off in 2013, will it have the same success in 2014? With this in mind, it is becoming increasingly important for merchants to think globally and use their ecommerce sites and marketing initiatives to help open new markets, reach new costumers and extend their brand everywhere in the world!
